Setting up Lab Book

• Use a duo-tang
• Page one is a Table of Content with the
  following column headings
• Lab Title Date Page Mark
• Page two is a print off of the general lab format
• Page three is where the first lab begins

General Format for Lab Write-up

• Title
• Give lab title and page number in the text
• Problem/Purpose
• Restate the reason for performing the activity
• Procedure
• Step by step account of what was done to collect
  the data. Include all material used. Remember to
  be specific
• Evidence
• State all data collected and include any
  observations taken during the procedure

• Analysis
• Answer all analysis questions in the analyze and
  Conclude section using the data as a reference
• Application
• Apply the knowledge gained to answer all
  questions in the Apply and Conclude section
• Conclusion
• Write 4-5 sentences that revisit the stated
  purpose and use the data to indicate is the lab
  was a success or not. If not indicate any human
  error that may have occurred

Lab Reminder and Helpful Hints

• Use pen (blue or black ink)
• Diagrams, graphs, data tables, and calculations
  can be done in pencil
• Graphs are on graph paper and properly labeled.
  Data tables include units
• Always use third person
• Answer in full sentences. Re-phase the question
  and be as complete as possible. Error on the side
  of too much information
• Number all pages in your lab book
• Ask for help if confused about any section BEFORE
  you pass in the lab
