  movement.

• A Cleveland Indians game was the 1st public
  appearance of AIM. AIM wanted to raise awareness
  of Native People being used as mascots for sports
  teams.
• Thanksgiving 1970 (the 350th anniversary of the
  Pilgrims' landing at Plymouth Rock), AIM took
  over the Mayflower II to make a statement about
  Thanksgiving.
• AIM said it should be a day of Indian mourning
• Also kicked dirt on Plymouth rock as a sign of
  disrespect for thanksgiving and what it portrays.

• June 1971 AIM occupies Mount Rushmore in South
  Dakota
• February 1972 in Gordon, Nebraska-Sioux man,
  Raymond Yellow Thunder, was murdered. No arrests
  were made, so AIM took I upon themselves to make
  sure justice was served and would not leave until
  the Hare brothers were arrested.
• Eventually the brothers were tired and found
  guilty.
• They were only sentenced to 1-6 years on a
  manslaughter charge which was a lesser sentence
  than murder.
