Skills for Multimedia Development

• The skills needed to produce a MM system are
  diverse.
• They include
• project/staff management skills
• expertise in software
• media design skills
• production design skills

Small scale projects

• For smaller projects
• individuals, or small teams, will cover all
  aspects of creating the system, including
  authoring and design
• unrealistic to expect one individual developer to
  possess all the necessary skills

• Multimedia features, such as sound and graphics,
  can be incorporated into the system from existing
  pools libraries
• But, the individual may have to resort to
  producing their own MM items, or commissioning an
  outsider to produce them
• (N.B. final year projects for media programmes)

Large scale projects

• Larger scale projects are usually developed
  in-house for large organisations, or through
  specialist companies

• Need more structured and formalised project
  management.

• The larger the project, the greater will be the
  need for specialists for each aspect of the
