• They, along with other indigenous groups, were
  moved to reservations
• Many customs and
• traditions have been lost

• Many died due to diseases that were brought by
  the Europeans
• Many lived in poverty

• 1869 Canada gains more land, eventually
  contributing to the extension of Canada to the
  Pacific Ocean in 1871
• 1931 Canada gains equal status with the United
  Kingdom
• 1982 after many years of attempts, Canada gains
  their independence from Great Britain, but still
  remains a member of the Commonwealth
