• The founder of Santa Fe Trail is Lieutenant
  Zebulon Pike. He was at the beginning of one of
  his adventures following the Arkansas River to
  its headwater in the Rocky Mountains. He got lost
  and ended up in Santa Fe, New Mexico and started
  a trade route with Spain.

• The Santa Fe Trail is one of the longest trade
  routes in the U.S. The Santa trail starts in
  Independence, Missouri and ends in Santa Fe New
  Mexico. The distance of 780 miles (1,260
  kilometers.

The Route

• When Coronado was on his way home from trying to
  find the Seven Cities of Gold, which he didnt
  find. He took the route that will soon be known
  as the Santa Fe Trail.
