1Croeso i Ysgol Cwmdâr
2We, the members of the School Council, would like
to welcome you to our school.
We hope you will find our presentation
interesting and help you to get to know us better.
3We were elected to serve on the council by our
classmates in May 2005.
This is us working on our first project a safer
routes to school plan.
Here we are carrying out research outside the
local public house.
Mr Davies never lets us spend break times in
here!
4Cwmdare
5Our school is situated on the outskirts of the
beautiful Dare Valley Country Park.
The village of Cwmdare originally sprang up
around its coal mine, which has now long been
closed.
6In recent years Cwmdare has expanded rapidly.
Our pupils are drawn from a catchment area made
up of a small council estate, traditional valley
terraced houses and several smaller new housing
estates.
7English is the predominant language spoken in the
village, although some Welsh can be heard amongst
the older generation.
