Confucious Temple
- This is where I am now. (on the star.)
Hi mum and dad The flight seemed to take forever
but I am so excited to be here. To day I am going
to wander around Beijing. James

Hi Mum and Dad I flew over Shanghai. (I was
surprised at how bad the pollution was) James
Shanghai looks like an interesting place I wish
we could have a little look.

Hi ya The buildings in china are amazing. The
rooves are unusual and there are a lot of animal
statues on some of them. It is said that the more
animal statues the more important the building.
There are lots in the Forbidden City. This
beautiful temple, the Temple of Heaven, sits in a
park, where first thing in the morning and late
in the afternoon locals go to practice Tai Chi,
dance and work out. The park has Chinese cypress
and Chinese juniper trees, some of which are more
than 500 years old, it is a perfect place to
chill out and enjoy some relaxation, by the time
I got to here I needed that!! James
Forbidden city
The forbidden city is really a big palace. More
than half a mile long and almost half a mile wide
(1 Square km) can you imagine that!

5Chongqing Zoo
To SJ T READPrestwood Station GEORGETOWN Q 4871
Hi, The Pandas look so playful, there home is
neat with a slide and other things to for them to
do. I saw photos of pandas as babies, they look
like small grey rats when they are first born.
There were lots of other animals at the zoo like
Golden haired monkeys, South China Tigers and
lesser Pandas. SO MUCH TO SEE!!! James
6I really enjoyed the Yangtze river cruise!!!
To SJ T READPrestwood Station GEORGETOWN Q 4871
I found out that the Yangtze is only one of the
names that is given to the river.( this name is
the name that mostly only tourists use). There
are many different people with many different
cultures that live along the Yangtze and they
know the river by different names.
This is the Xiling Gorge.
The five-step ship lock.
Hi Behind me is the Three gorge dam site. Over a
million homes will go under water and there are
many people against the dam being built.( it will
be finished in 2009) James
This is a fresh water dolphin that is known as
the Baiji dolphin or (QiQi) they live in the
Yangtze and may be endangered when the dam is
finished. I like the look of them. They look
friendly.

This is the great wall of CHINA.
The great wall was built in the 5th century BC to
keep out enemies. The great wall is 6400 km long
from Shanhaiguan in the east to Lop Nur in the
west. It is the longest and largest in terms of
area and mass human-man made structure
Hi Mum and Dad, The view from the wall is
incredible. Now I know why the Chinese empire was
so strong as no-one would be able to enter
without being spotted. They have neat little
windows in the wall for watching and firing from.
I wish I had more time here. James
8Terracotta Warriors
To SJ T READPrestwood Station GEORGETOWN Q 4871
After completion, the terracotta figures were
placed in the pits in precise military formation
according to rank and duty. The terracotta
figures are life-like and life-sized. They vary
in height, uniform and hairstyle in accordance
with rank. The colored lacquer finish, molded
faces (each is individual), and real weapons and
armor used in manufacturing these figures created
a realistic appearance. Unfortunately, the
weapons were stolen shortly after the creation of
the army and the coloring has mostly faded.
No two life-sized figures are alike in the tomb.
Hello The terracotta warriors are amazing . The
chinese must have been really good at making
sculptures. There was a chariot with horses made
of bronze. They had all the details. They were
really cool. They were found in 1974 by a farmer
who wanted to put in a well!!! James
