Title: Psycho Tests

1
Psycho Tests
  • Explaining an example
  • VS.
  • Giving an example

2
Giving
  • Supplying a basic example with the understanding
that the person answering and the person grading
are familiar with the content the example comes
    from.
  • Examples
  • Marion shower scene
  • Marion driving in car
  • Opening soap in shower

3
Explaining
  • Explaining a specific example requires you to use
complete sentences and state your answer as if
the person grading isnt totally familiar with
the content, but you are familiar with it.

4
Give an example
  • The sound of the knife stabbing Marion in shower
    scene.

5
Explaining a Specific example
  • As Marion is being attacked in the shower scene
at the Bates Motel, we hear the water running,
music playing, and the sound of her being stabbed
by the attacker. The sound of her being stabbed
isnt something we should hear over other things
in the scene, but, because a folio artist went in
and added the sound, it sticks out much clearer
and adds emphasis/importance to the violence of
    the stabs in the scene.

6
Help for the future
  • If you dont have enough room then its
acceptable to get another sheet of paper to write
    the answer more completely.
  • For those of you with college in mind, some of
the responses given would be docked severely
because of your inability to distinguish between
    explain and give.
  • I dont know if its something youre aware of or
not, so thats why I want to talk with you about
    it.

7
Explaining
  • For those of you going into the work force
immediately, this would be a good lesson to take
with you when filling out written work.
  • Use complete sentences and elaborate on your
thoughts to truly show your ability/knowledge and
    not just implying it.

8
Now You Know
  • This rule/difference goes for information on any
written out answer to a question/prompt that
youll encounter unless instructed otherwise by
    the teacher/professor/boss.
  • Since weve got an understanding of this now, you
know where Im coming from expectation-wise.
