Purpose of Senior Parent Night
  • Assist you and your senior with the application
    process.
  • Discuss letters of recommendation, application
    procedures and transcript requests.

Teacher Recommendations
  • Ask 2 teachers.
  • Ask early and politely in person.
  • Give at least 2 weeks notice.
  • Use college recommendation form-available in the
    Counseling Center-(page 1).
  • Check college applications to see if there are
    specific teacher recommendation forms.
  • Students should write thank you notes-the
    teachers do the letters on their own time!
  • Not every college requires recommendation
    letters.
  • Teachers will submit letters directly to the
    counselor. Students will not be permitted to see
    the letter.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
  • Online applications are being strongly encouraged
    by many schools.
  • If using paper application, make a copy to use as
    a rough draft.
  • Fill in all information you can.
  • Seniors will receive rank and GPA in homeroom.
  • Gather additional required itemsessays, personal
    statement, etc. If completing an online
    application, upload appropriate items.

Application Procedure Continued
  • Make a copy of the application and all supporting
    materials in case there is a loss in the mail.
  • Online applications should be printed before
    submitting.

TRANSCRIPTS
  • Complete transcript request form in counseling
    center and/or registrars office. This must be
    submitted for both online and paper applications
    (page2).
  • Provide a manila envelope addressed to the
    college and 1.50. No stamps or return address
    needed!
  • Attach application, fee and all required
    materials
  • Give to Mrs. Ware, registrar.
  • Note We MUST have a transcript release form on
    record or the transcript will not be sent (page
    3).

Counselor Report Forms and Letters of
Recommendation
  • Counselor Report Form-- (also called secondary
    school report) fill in biographical information
    ONLY. The counselor will fill in the rest of the
    information. Submit with transcript request.
  • Letters of Recommendation If college requires a
    counselor letter of recommendation, please be
    sure that your senior has filled out the college
    recommendation form available in the counseling
    center. Indicate on the transcript request form
    that a letter of recommendation is needed.

DEADLINES
  • Please leave at least 2 weeks for the
    recommendation and transcript request to be
    processed.
  • November 15th for all December 1st
    deadlines
  • December 3rd for mailings before
  • Winter Break
  • We CANNOT honor same day requests for transcripts
    (official or unofficial)

Mid-year reports final transcripts
  • We do NOT automatically send mid-year or final
    grades. Students must request and supply
    transcript request form, 1.50 and addressed
    manila envelope.
  • In June student MUST bring a transcript request
    form, addressed manila envelope and 1.50 to the
    registrar so the final transcript can be sent to
    the school he/she is going to attend.

Early Action vs. Early Decision
  • Early decision is a contract between you and the
    college. If you are accepted, you MUST attend.
  • Early action is more flexible. You do not have to
    commit to the college if you are accepted.
