Collaborative Learning

• Groups of students work together in searching for
  understanding, meaning or solutions
• Becomes recursive, so that when one person edits
  the group again re-evaluates
• In this kind of environment discussion is key
  this can be in person or virtual with online
  forums etc.

What is wiki?

• A website that allows the visitors themselves to
  easily add, remove, and otherwise edit and change
  available content
• This ease of interaction and operation makes a
  wiki an effective tool for mass collaborative
  learning and writing.
• Has anyone contributed to a wiki? Know any famous
  ones? Can you think of other web tools that allow
  collaboration?

  for other research.

Wiki Page Features

• The Sandbox is a good place to start
• All content is editable
• Discussion is part of each page
• History tab view previous versions and revert
  changes.
• This makes the wiki almost impossible to mess up.

Class Wiki Features

• Class news is located on the right sidebar.
• To edit news click Latest News recent
  discussions and page edits will automatically
  show up.
• Class Materials used for each class will be
  available on the wiki.
• If you want to add class materials click on the
  particular date and edit that page. It will show
  up in other places you see class materials after
  that.
• Assignments will be added to the wiki.
• Instead of e-mailing future assignments we will
  use the wiki
• If one group is working on a single word doc or
  ppt. that can be uploaded to the wiki each user
  can download when they are working on it and then
  upload the newest version when finished

Sustainability Definition

• We will use the wiki as an exercise in
  collaborative writing.
• I started with mine now someone needs to edit
  this to make it fit their def. etc. etc.
