1 Timothy 66-11

• 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7
  For we brought nothing into the world, and we can
  take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and
  clothing, we will be content with that. 9 People
  who want to get rich fall into temptation and a
  trap and into many foolish and harmful desires
  that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10 For
  the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.
  Some people, eager for money, have wandered from
  the faith and pierced themselves with many
  grieves. 11 But you, man of God, flee from all
  this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith,
  love, endurance and gentleness.

So how are we suppose to use the money that God
has entrusted us

• Tithing
• Matt 2323
• "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees,
  you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your
  spices-mint, dill and cummin. But you have
  neglected the more important matters of the
  law-justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should
  have practiced the latter, without neglecting the
  former.

• Give to the poor
• But when you give a banquet, invite the poor,
  the crippled, the lame, the blind Luke 1413
• In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha,
  who was always doing good and helping the poor
  Acts 936
• Cornelius stared at him in fear. "What is it,
  Lord?" he asked. Acts 104
• But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the
  rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the
  ones who are dragging you into court? James
  26

• Be content
• Thank God for what you have
• Take care of what you have
• Consider how much God has given you
• Call coveting sin and confess it
• Be aware of the signs of covetousness
• Just say No!

Luke 1610-13

• "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also
  be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest
  with very little will also be dishonest with
  much. So if you have not been trustworthy in
  handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with
  true riches? And if you have not been
  trustworthy with someone else's property, who
  will give you property of your own? "No servant
  can serve two masters. Either he will hate the
  one and love the other, or he will be devoted to
  the one and despise the other. You cannot serve
  both God and Money."

• On the first day of every week, each one of you
  should set aside a sum of money in keeping with
  his income, saving it up, so that when I come no
  collections will have to be made.

Deutronomy 1422-23

• Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your
  fields produce each year. 23 Eat the tithe of
  your grain, new wine and oil, and the firstborn
  of your herds and flocks in the presence of the
  LORD your God at the place he will choose as a
  dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to
  revere the LORD your God always.
