We now offer our Language Leaders Award as an
Activities Award through ASDAN. When asked,
they agreed they would customise their Activities
Award certificates to say Language Leader and
the language.Of course it is also possible to
generate your own in house certificates but we
felt that registering students for the Activities
Award (4.50) was more official. They receive a
book to record their planning and describe their
experiences, and append their materials. I
collect all this in at the end of the scheme,
look through it (have obviously seen them
teaching their sessions too) and then I submit
names to ASDAN and the certificates are
generated. Contact at ASDANbarbarabension_at_asda
n.org.uk You would need to contact her and have
the conversation it is not a standard thing
they do!

The first Language Leaders Award scheme was
produced by Sports Leaders UK and followed on
from their Sports Leaders Scheme. However, it
does cost 40 for the file and 12 per student.
The course as such is really the interaction
the teacher has with the students to prepare them
to teach it is like mentoring ITT students in
lots of ways and is organic and develops during
the sessions. The only reason to hang the
process on an official scheme of any kind is so
that the accreditation is in some way external to
your own school this is for me its only
purpose, so if I can get that from ASDAN with
4.50 then that is preferable to me! The pins on
the previous slide are by far the most beloved
part of the reward from the students perspective
and they are organised by us privately with the
company listed there on the slide. It is quite
possible that I will in future generate the
certificates in house and just have those and the
pins but for our 50 Language Leaders this year,
Ive gone for ASDAN again.
