3- The World-wide organisation for cooperation among
Railways - 170 members from all 5 continents
- Members are railways, rail transport
operators,infrastructure managers, rail service
providers, public transport companies - Several railway countries are still not member of

7Intercontinental intermodal corridors
- Most global corridors involves sea-transport
- Can be developed through only one global ocean
carrier - Several global corridors could involve railway
transport - Has to be developed through discussions with
several national railway carriers - No one stop-arena for multi-national land
corridors
8Global land bridges sections of intermodal
corridors
- The land-section of the potential
inter-continental corridors bridges may also
include countries where countries where
operational-, political- and other conditions are
heterogeneous - Some are members of UIC, some are not
- It is a challenge to build a seamless
logistical chain where (too) many players are
involved - These countries have only one common global
railway arena UIC
9Expanding the global railway arena !
- Through UICs new regional organization a main
target is to bring in new active and committed
members as members of the organization - The expansion of UIC, where new members are
included, is one step towards a coordinated
approach and a common arena for the development
of well-functioning land sections of
intercontinental corridors

- Verifying the conceptual idea through integration
with commercial partners and customers - Building additional network and funding plans
- Formation of commercial company responsible for
the operation - Details, agreements and commercial conditions
- Demonstration run
