Artificial Insemination

• Semen collection from turkey tom or rooster
• Insemination of turkey or chicken hen
• Semen handling

Egg shell abnormalities

• Examine chicken and turkey eggs and try to see
  examples of the following
• Corrugated/wrinkled eggs
• Body-check egg (ridge)
• Pimpling
• Coated/sandy shell
• Slab sided egg
• Double yolk

Candling of eggs for interior quality

• Used for chicken shell eggs (human consumption)
• Indirect assessment of egg quality -freshness as
  related to shell and storage conditions
• Candle to determine size of air cell presence of
  blood or meat spots
• USDA assigned grades of AA, A, and undergrades

Hatch Residue Breakout

• Gently remove upper portion of shell
• For clears - leave yolk in shell or
• Pour contents into bowl or hand and exam germ
  spot.
• For developed embryos - remove from shell and
  assess stage of development (Early, mid or late
  stage of development)
• Record information on data sheet
