• School Census collections will be as follows in
  2007
• January (Spring) on DAZ
• May (Summer) on DAZ
• September (Autumn) on COLLECT (Collections on
  Line for Learning, Education, Children and
  Teachers)

• COLLECT is a new web-based data collection
  system (formerly DISC) for use in schools, Local
  Authorities (LA) and DfES
• COLLECT has been demonstrated at ICES /
  conferences
• Intention was to use COLLECT for first time
  for SC January 2007

• Appreciated this was a high risk strategy
• Given performance issues identified in internal
  testing, will now use space given by January and
  May 07 censuses (using DAZ) to conduct further
  acceptance testing
• Essential to complete full internal and external
  testing of system

• Using COLLECT from SC September 2007 allows us to
  implement lessons learned from
• Early Years, Alternative Provision, PRU pilots
  
• Primary and special school participation in SC
• Dual running of January and May SC Census
  COLLECT blades within DfES
