3- TrainingRegister comes in two parts
- A Windows application (Administration Module) for
use by training administrators, entry clerks and
sometimes management. This module is required. - An Intranet / Internet application (Web Module)
for use by employees, participants, supervisors
and management. Most organizations utilize this
optional module to permit self-enrollment,
evaluations, and reporting.
Both applications (Administration and Web
Modules) use/hit the same database. The
TrainingRegister license is for a single
database. There are no additional costs for the
number of users, seats or the amount of data
saved.
4Administration Module
The Administration Module is a Windows
application that installs with an InstallShield
program. It will run fine on any Windows 2000 or
newer workstation that is capable of running
Office products. In many organizations the
Administration Module is needed on only one or
two workstations. We do not impose a limit and
at least one of our clients is running it on
about 50 workstations.
5We recommend a common shared LAN folder for the
Administration Module to make revision updating a
simple task. Revision updating usually includes
simply replacing a few files in the shared LAN
folder. If the Jet version of TrainingRegister is
purchased then the database will reside in this
common shared LAN folder. If the SQL Server
version of TrainingRegister is purchased then a
file containing data connection information will
reside in this common shared LAN folder.
6Web Module
The Web Module is simply a website on your
company Intranet server or any internal server
running IIS. The Web Module will need to access
the same database used by the Administration
Module. If the Jet database is used then it will
be referenced with a path and file name in the
configuration file. If SQL Server is used then a
copy of the data connection file from the shared
LAN folder is used. A batch file is provided to
install and register, or update, a DLL used by
the Web Module for all database access.
7Tiering
If SQL Server is used then the shared LAN program
folder, although convenient, is not a
requirement. Each workstation can have its own
program, support files and data connection file.
You can even have multiple shared LAN program
folders if that works better. Obviously the SQL
Server database and Web Module can be on separate
boxes. Or, everything can be run on the same
box. If the Jet database is used then all
administration workstations must use the same
executables in the shared LAN folder. That is
where the Jet database will be and
TrainingRegister will expect it to be in the same
folder with the program. The Web Module can
obviously be on a separate box.
8Administration Module Folder Permissions Training
administrators, coordinators and other possible
users of the Administration Module will need
permissions to read/write/create/delete files in
the TrainingRegister program folder and its
sub-folders. The sub-folders are used for
attached files. All other employees should be
denied access to the shared program folder. Each
Administration Module workstation will have a
folder named C\TrReports. TrainingRegister uses
this folder as a temporary folder to write
reports and data exports. Occasionally, a
restricted Windows user will need more
permissions on this folder.
9Web Module Permissions/Login If automatic login
is desired then Anonymous login must be turned
off in IIS. TrainingRegister will sense the
users network name and look up their record in
TrainingRegister. If found, TrainingRegister
will permit or deny the login based on
permissions set in TrainingRegister on the
Security tab. If IDs and Passwords are used
for login then TrainingRegister will look up the
persons record, verify their password and permit
or deny the login based on permissions set in
TrainingRegister on the Security tab. They are
kicked off on the third failure. If using
software generated initial passwords, then a
new medium strength password will be required at
the first login.
10TrainingRegister Annual Support Package
11- TrainingRegister Annual Support Package
- Unlimited telephone and/or email support and
training for 2 contacts - All software updates, upgrades and fixes
- One optional purchase each year at 15 of the
current product price
12Dedicated Server Support If you elect to obtain
a dedicated server for TrainingRegister, we can
install both TrainingRegister modules, keep them
updated and make sure the database gets backup
up, all at no additional cost via a remote
connection. Note A dedicated server is not a
requirement but it can improve TrainingRegister
performance in situations where existing servers
are already heavily worked. A virtual server
will not likely improve performance since is
shares hardware resources with other virtual
servers.
13Try It Before You Buy It!
Test TrainingRegister at no cost and without

14- Try I before you buy it!
- Download and install the Administration Module,
first with a sample database and then with an
empty database for real or test data. - Work out the details of importing employee data.
- Schedule a look at personalized and customized
copy of the Web Module. - All this without spending or obligating a dime!
- If you elect to make a purchase, the demo is
converted with new program executables and new
registration information.
