services that enhance the economic stability of

obtained the grant which allowed the Migrant Farm
Labor Center to purchased a 16.169 acre track of
land adjacent to I-30 and construction began on
the facility know known as the Hope Migrant
Complex.

housing for migrant and seasonal farm workers
while in route to and from their work

- Why give special help to migrant children?
- Most school programs, including those
supported by Title I, are set up on a nine-month
academic calendar. However, when migrant
children move with their families, their
education as well as their lives is
disrupted, often many times a year.

- These problems, combined with irregular school
attendance, often lead to overall frustration and
low academic performance, causing many migrant
children to drop out of school in their teens.

- The national average for high school graduation
rate among migrant teenagers is only 50.7.

- In addition, the program helps them develop
self-confidence and self-esteem.

accessible from anywhere in the United States and
Puerto Rico.
