Introduction

• Life in the colonies were rough and harsh. Some
  parts of colonial daily life consist of
  clothing, food, religion, and family. Life in
  the colonies was very different from today.

Womens clothing

• Clothing was an important part in daily life.
  Women wore light, short- sleeved shirts with a
  dress or gown on the outside.

Mens clothing

• Men wore short or long sleeved under-shirts while
  on the outside they wore a doublet, which was a
  close fitting, with long sleeved, broad padded
  shoulders, and buttoned down at the waist.

Colonial food

• Food in the colonies was not like today. People
  did not go to the supermarket like we do. The
  colonist grew their own food unlike us. Food
  consisted of chicken, turkey and vegetables

Religion

• On Sunday the people went to the meeting-house.
  People attended 2 hours in the morning and
  afternoon. It was like church. Everyone had to
  go even babies. No one was able to sleep except
  babies.

Family Life

• Families were close, hard working, and helped
  each other. Families were usually large. Men
  hunted while women sewed clothes. Children made
  own clothes and made home appliances.

Conclusion

• Colonial life was hard. Things had to be done
  perfectly or terrible things could happen. When
  clothes were made if one or two stitches were
  missing the clothing would fall apart. If food
  was made improperly people could get sick or even
  die. Things back then were not like today.
