Sequence stratigraphy

• Sequence stratigraphy is a conceptual model of
  the history of continental margins. It was
  originally developed by petroleum geologists to
  predict the presence and/or absence of sandy
  reservoirs in a sediment column.
• It is based upon the idea of accommodation space
  (Posamentier et al., 1988).
