José Escofet was born near Barcelona in 1930, and
spent much of his early career working as a
graphic designer whilst painting 'fine art' in
his own time. He moved to England with his
British wife in 1979. With a deep awareness of
both Spanish and Dutch still-life and flower
painting from earlier centuries, Escofet
progressed from the late 1980's into a highly
productive period painting impressively refined,
sophisticated flower subjects of great richness.
