1. BRUSH YOUR TEETH TWICE A DAY
  • Keep up a routine of brushing your teeth twice a
    day and youre halfway there!
  • You can also encourage better family dental
    health by encouraging your children to brush
    twice a day too.
  • Choose a fluoride toothpaste and brush for 2
    minutes each session to gain maximum benefit.

2. CHOOSE LESS SUGARY SNACKS
  • All of us are tempted occasionally by that sugary
    doughnut or cookie. But try to get into the habit
    of choosing less sugary snacks as your default.
  • Sugar is the leading cause of tooth decay the
    less you consume, the better.
  • Instead, reach for food for healthy teeth and
    gums like fruit, nuts and raw veggies. You should
    also opt for plain water instead of sugar-loaded
    soft drinks.

3. REDUCE ACIDIC FOOD AND DRINKS
  • You already know that sugar is bad for you, but
    did you also know that acidic food and drinks can
    also harm teeth?
  • Acid causes dental erosion when the top layer of
    your teeth (the enamel) is worn away and it
    cant be replaced.
  • Cut down on acidic food and drinks like
    chocolate, cheese and orange juice, and opt for
    healthy alkaline snacks like watermelon, grapes
    and almonds instead.

4. FLOSS OR USE INTERDENTAL BRUSHES
  • If you dont already floss, its never too late
    to start!
  • Because your toothbrush cant reach every nook
    and cranny, its essential to use floss or
    interdental brushes as well to ensure that plaque
    and food debris are removed. This means that you
    reduce the chances of tooth decay and gum disease
    and can enjoy a healthier mouth and smile.

5. VISIT YOUR DENTIST REGULARLY
  • Last but not least, be sure to visit your dentist
    regularly. For most people, this means a check-up
    once every six months.
  • This will help you maintain your oral health and
    enable your dentist to spot any issues before
    they turn into problems.
