5The Forgotten Princess and The Shark
The remarkable point about the story is that the
writer has distinctively focused on every tiny
detail. It reflects the feeling of stubbornness,
separation, and love. Its a story of a princess
who was born to a poor family in the land of Ulom
Kingdom and her birth was prophetic. The king of
that land was told by his wise-men, that she will
rule his kingdom and will become the successor.
The king thought the princess to be his daughter.
However, year after year eleven male children
were born to him and his queen in the hope of a
daughter. When the twelfth male child was born,
the king asked his wise-men, what went wrong? Why
the princess has not taken birth as yet? All of
them advised the king to marry again and assured
him that he will get a daughter from his second
wife.
6- The king married again, but again he had 12 male
children with his second queen. King became
agitated and thought that his wise men are
deceiving him and so he decided to kill them.
After killing all the wise-men, seven wise-women
came to his land with seven gifts from a far
country. They told the king that the princess has
taken birth in the land of Ulom and they saw her
from afar. After knowing about the birth of the
princess who wasnt his daughter, the king was
angry, confused, and disturbed. He asked those
seven wise-women to bring the princess to him as
soon as they find her. At the behest of the king,
seven wise-women left the land of Ulom with seven
gifts to find the princess but never returned.
When the king realized wise-women had gone back
to their land and will never return, he became
furious and gave the order to kill all the
newborn girl babies in the kingdom. A poor
family, where the princess was actually born got
distressed. To save the princess, her parents
threw her into the river. There, she was saved by
the shark that raised her in the ocean.
