What is BOSH?

BOSH is an open source tool for releasing
engineering, deployment, lifecycle management,
and monitoring of distributed systems.

• BOSH will administer the infrastructure of the
  cloud foundry on any cloud providers. Once you
  want to install or remove products from cloud
  foundry, BOSH will do that.

• Once you installed Ops Manager, you will be
  configuring BOSH Director for cloud foundry. A
  separate VM is created for BOSH Director and bosh
  components are installed on VM including bosh-cli
  tool.

• Ops Manager uses bosh-cli to install any
  products in cloud foundry. If you configured and
  installed new products on Ops Manager, BOSH will
  maintain the deployment file (.yml) for that new
  product.

• You need to login to BOSH Director as director
  through Ops Manager VM. You can check details
  about installed deployment on cloud foundry.
  Details include status of deployment, how many
  VMs are running for that deployment and their
  types.

• In BOSH Director VM, you can handle deployment
  group of cloud foundry components. You can also
  start and stop the whole cloud foundry
  environment using bosh-cli tool. You can check
  the number of running VMs for the specific
  deployment.

• Each BOSH deployment needs to provide a specially
  structured configuration file  deployment
  manifest. This file defines what resources are
  going to be deployed, what services are going to
  be running on each of resources and properties
  that will be passed to services configuration
  files.
