  • Recruiting the most suitable person for a job
    profile is extremely important for any
    organization to thrive successfully. Knowledge
    of how to conduct an interview is not everyones
    cup of tea. An HR personnel undertakes this
    seemingly easy task which is actually a very
    onerous and arduous one. He/she definitely has
    to know every intricate detail of how to conduct
    an interview. There are 2 types of interviews
    conducted in most organizations these days i.e.
    the entry interview and exit interview. The
    entry interview is known to everyone and is the
    first step of the Employment Life Cycle whereas
    the relatively unknown exit interview, the last
    one. So, what exactly is an exit interview? How
    is it conducted? What is its significance?
  • We will discuss each of these one by one.
  • An exit interview just like an entry interview is
    conducted by an HR personnel. The HR personnel
    has technical know-how and knows how to conduct
    an interview. It is conducted when an employee
    decides to leave an organization. The exit
    interview is conducted to get information that
    could be used for business analytics so as to
    bring more efficiency in the recruitment process
    of an organization. It is a set of questions that
    give a clear idea about the aspects the employee
    liked and disliked about the organization, what
    were his stimulations to make a decision to
    switch the company.
  • Lets Learn How To Conduct an Exit Interview.
  • There are basically 4 types of exit interviews
    namely In-person exit interview, Telephone exit
    interview, Paper and Pencil exit interview, and
    Online exit interview.
  • The In-person interview is a face to face
    interview conducted by an HR personnel. Its pros
    are that it reveals in depth information about
    the employees interaction. The cons being that
    some people fail to open up and take a diplomatic
    stand.
  • The second type is the Telephone exit interview.
    Its conducted on the phone. Its more helpful
    than an in person interview. But it can be taxing
    for both parties involved.
  • The Pen and Paper exit interview is the least
    efficient with the participation rate being a
    measly 30 percent.
  • The fourth type and the most insightful one is
    the Online exit interview with a participation
    rate of about 65 percent.
