Title: ADULT EDUCATIONAL GUIDANCE SERVICE
1ADULT EDUCATIONALGUIDANCE SERVICE
Adult Guidance is a relatively new concept in
Irish Education, its roots still fragile can be
traced to The Green Paper (1998) Adult
Education in an era of Lifelong Learning and
later to the White Paper on Adult Education
Learning for Life (2000).
2ADULT EDUCATIONALGUIDANCE SERVICE
The White Paper on Adult Education (2000) laid
out a policy framework for the development of a
comprehensive adult education service.
3ADULT EDUCATIONALGUIDANCE SERVICE
The last eight years has seen the largest
injection of funds for the sector in its history,
and the rollout of many programmes under the
auspices of the National Development Plan 2000
2006.
4ADULT EDUCATIONALGUIDANCE SERVICE
The Adult Education Guidance Initiative (AEGI)
reflects a priority identified in the White Paper
on Adult Education Learning for Life (July
2000). The White Paper highlighted the need to
invest systematically in the development of core
supporting services for adult education such as
guidance and counselling.
5ADULT EDUCATIONALGUIDANCE SERVICE
The Adult Educational Guidance Initiative, funded
by the Department of Education and Science, with
the assistance of the European Social Fund forms
part of the National Development Plan 2000-2006.
6ADULT EDUCATIONALGUIDANCE SERVICE
The National Centre for Guidance in Education
(NCGE) an agency of the Department of Education
and Science, has been given the lead role in the
initiative.
7ADULT EDUCATIONALGUIDANCE SERVICE
