God is Love

• The love of God is His joyful self-determination
  to reflect the goodness of His will and glory by
  meeting the needs of mankind. Tony Evans
• even as he chose us in him before the
  foundation of the world, that we should be holy
  and blameless before him. In love he predestined
  us for adoption through Jesus Christ, according
  to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his
  glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in
  the Beloved, (Ephesians 14-6, ESV).

• The love of God is an exercise of his goodness
  toward individual sinners whereby, having
  identified Himself with their welfare, he has
  given His Son to be their Savior, and now brings
  them to know and enjoy Him in a covenant

God is the source of love and is in His nature
love

• Read 1 John 47-8, (pg. 1304)
• By this we know love, that he laid down his life
  for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for
  the brothers. But if anyone has the worlds
  goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes
  his heart against him, how does Gods love abide
  in him? Little children, let us not love in word
  or talk but in deed and in truth, (1 John
  316-18, ESV).

God is the source of love and is in His nature
love

• Love is patient and kind love does not envy or
  boast it is not arrogant or rude. It does not
  insist on its own way it is not irritable or
  resentful it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but
  rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things,
  believes all things, hopes all things, endures
  all things. Love never ends, (1 Corinthians
  134-8a, ESV).

Gods love is demonstrated in Christs sacrifice.

  that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for
