Things Hated By A God of Love

• (Proverbs 616-19)

Proverbs 616-19

• These six things doth the LORD hate yea, seven
  are an abomination unto him A proud look, a
  lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
  An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet
  that be swift in running to mischief, A false
  witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth
  discord among brethren.

God is Love

• (1 John 48,16) He that loveth not knoweth not
  God for God is love And we have known and
  believed the love that God hath to us. God is
  love and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in
  God, and God in him.
• God is a loving God

God is Love

• Loved us so much that he gave us his Son
• (John 316)
• Proved his love toward us
• (Rom 58) But God commendeth his love toward us,
  in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died
  for us.

• Is it there a contradiction in saying that a God
  of love could hate something?
• What does he hate?
• Sin Mans worst enemy
• God loves us and hates sin
• Sin has nothing to do with love, has all to do
  with self and rebellion

God is Love and Just

• Law broken is sin
• (1 John 34) Whosoever committeth sin
  transgresseth also the law for sin is the
  transgression of the law.
• Sin brings Death
• (James 115) Then when lust hath conceived, it
  bringeth forth sin and sin, when it is finished,
  bringeth forth death.

Gods Justice requires Wrath

• If theres no punishment for breaking his law
  then theres no justice.
• His justice requires his wrath be taken on them
  that break his law.
• Israel
• (2 Kings 2213) Go ye, inquire of the LORD for
  me, and for the people, and for all Judah,
  concerning the words of this book that is found
  for great is the wrath of the LORD that is
  kindled against us, because our fathers have not
  hearkened unto the words of this book, to do
  according unto all that which is written
  concerning us.

Gods Love gave us a way to escape

• He gave us his son to take our place
• (1 John 410) Herein is love, not that we loved
  God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be
  the propitiation for our sins.
• There is no contradiction in say that a Loving
  God could hate something.

A Proud Look

• Pride
• To Make others think highly of you or to make
  yourself superior to them.
• Pride will cause one to have a false sense of
  security
• (Prov 3012-13) There is a generation that are
  pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed
  from their filthiness. There is a generation, O
  how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are
  lifted up.

A Proud Look

• (1 Tim 63-5) If any man teach otherwise, and
  consent not to wholesome words, even the words of
  our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which
  is according to godliness He is proud, knowing
  nothing, but doting about questions and strifes
  of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings,
  evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of
  corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth,
  supposing that gain is godliness from such
  withdraw thyself.

(Acts 2028-30) Take heed therefore unto
yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which
the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed
the church of God, which he hath purchased with
his own blood. For I know this, that after my
departing shall grievous wolves enter in among
you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own
selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things,
to draw away disciples after them.

• Pride causes contentions
• (Prov 1310) Only by pride cometh contention
  but with the well advised is wisdom.
• Contentions come about when we try to make
  disciples after our own self instead of after
  Christ

A Proud Look

• (Prov 1618) Pride goeth before destruction, and
  an haughty spirit before a fall.
• They are so caught up in there self they dont
  even see it coming
• (Prov 37) Be not wise in thine own eyes fear
  the LORD, and depart from evil.
• Dont suffer from Delusions of Grandeur

A Lying Tongue

• Not telling the truth
• Lying is in the same category as shedding
  innocent blood.
• Gods attitude to lying lips
• (Prov 1222) Lying lips are abomination to the
  LORD but they that deal truly are his delight.
• Abomination to Him
• No difference in degree of not telling the
  truth with Him.

A Lying Tongue

• Liars are in danger of Gods wrath
• (Ps 56) Thou shalt destroy them that speak
  leasing the LORD will abhor the bloody and
  deceitful man.
• (Rev 218) But the fearful, and unbelieving, and
  the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers,
  and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars,
  shall have their part in the lake which burneth
  with fire and brimstone which is the second
  death.

Hands that Shed Innocent Blood

• The Law forbids murder
• (Ex 2013) Thou shalt not kill.
• The penalty for murder
• (Gen 96) Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man
  shall his blood be shed for in the image of God
  made he man.

Heart that Deviseth Wicked Imaginations

• (Prov 423) Keep thy heart with all diligence
  for out of it are the issues of life.
• (Matt 1519) For out of the heart proceed evil
  thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications,
  thefts, false witness, blasphemies
• Wicked ways begin in the heart

• Example of those before the flood
• (Gen 65-6) And GOD saw that the wickedness of
  man was great in the earth, and that every
  imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only
  evil continually. And it repented the LORD that
  he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him
  at his heart.
• (Gen 613) And God said unto Noah, The end of
  all flesh is come before me for the earth is
  filled with violence through them and, behold, I
  will destroy them with the earth.

Heart that Deviseth Wicked Imaginations

• (Phil 47-9) And the peace of God, which passeth
  all understanding, shall keep your hearts and
  minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren,
  whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are
  honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever
  things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,
  whatsoever things are of good report if there be
  any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on
  these things. Those things, which ye have both
  learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me,
  do and the God of peace shall be with you.

If we would fill our hearts with these then there
would be no room for wickedness

Feet that be Swift in Running to Mischief

• One that is ANXIOUS to do evil
• Some are anxious to start trouble
• (2 Thess 311-12) For we hear that there are
  some which walk among you disorderly, working not
  at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are
  such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus
  Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat
  their own bread.

Feet that be Swift in Running to Mischief

• (1 Tim 513) And withal they learn to be idle,
  wandering about from house to house and not only
  idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking
  things which they ought not.
• They are good for one thing Trouble
• God puts it on the list that he hates

A False Witness that Speaketh Lies

• (Ex 2016) Thou shalt not bear false witness
  against thy neighbour.
• We may say I wouldnt testify under oath falsely
  about someone, but then go behind ones back and
  speak falsely
• Same thing

He That Soweth Discord Among Brethren

• (2 Tim 223) But foolish and unlearned questions
  avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
• (James 314-16) But if ye have bitter envying
  and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not
  against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not
  from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
  For where envying and strife is, there is
  confusion and every evil work.

He That Soweth Discord Among Brethren

• (3 John 9-10) I wrote unto the church but
  Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence
  among them, receiveth us not. Wherefore, if I
  come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth,
  prating against us with malicious words and not
  content therewith, neither doth he himself
  receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that
  would, and casteth them out of the church.
• This is brought about by Pride Wants to be the
  big shot

Things Hated By a God of Love

• These things are listed especially as Seven
  abominations hated. Why?
• These sins are for the purpose of destroying
  people that are trying to follow God.
• Some will always be rebellious but these are
  rebellious and trying to bring everyone else down
  with them.
