The 10 Week Class Dress Code
  • You are allowed to wear jeans but they must be
    clean and neat.
  • No Baseball caps may be worn during the classes
  • All shirts should be of appropriate length not
    exposing flesh

Dress Code in the Schools
  • You are required to behave as a professional
    therefore you must dress as one. On that note,
    observe the following
  • Nice slacks (no jeans) blouses that do not show
    midriffs or cleavage skirts or dresses at
    finger-tip level
  • No flip flops Avoid spiked heels Comfortable
    shoes are your friends, but professional-looking
    comfortable shoes!
  • No body piercings. Tongue piercings must be
    removed as well as lip, nose, eyebrow, etc. when
    in the field
  • Tattoos must be covered at all times
  • No tee shirts or shirts with words or pictures on
    them unless its a school shirt from the
    elementary school youre working in and its a
    designated day for everyone to wear them

TOSS Schedule During First 10 Weeks
  • Two days a week you are in methods classes on
    campus for approximately 6 hours
  • Once a week beginning the second week of class
    you will be in the assigned elementary classroom
    for 6 hours (This schedule does not require 8am
    2pm if you go in at 700am then you leave at
    1pm)
  • Lunch should be brought to class because you are
    only allotted approximately 15 30 minutes to
    eat (depending on professor)
  • Attendance is required. All absences will result
    in a loss of points. Each professor will provide
    more details about their individual attendance
    policy.

1st Day of Field Experience
  • If you Do Not have Methods Classes on Mondays
    then your first Day of Field is
  • Wednesday, January 21st at 800 AM-200 PM
  • If you Do have Methods Classes on Mondays then
    your first Day of Field is Tuesday, January 20th
    at 800 AM-200 PM
  • Please discuss with your collaborating teacher
    during your 1st visit about which day of the week
    you will attend for your field. Avoid Fridays for
    your field experience day.

Mandatory Mid-term Seminar
  • Date Friday, March 27th
  • Place TBA
  • Time TBA
  • Every Candidate who will begin full-time
    experience must attend this seminar

Full-time Field Experience
  • Thursday, March 26th is the first day of
    full-time experience.
  • You must report to your school every day of the
    week at the same time Practicing Teachers are
    required to report (usually 715 AM) and stay
    until Practicing Teachers are permitted to leave
    (usually 250 PM)
  • You will follow the teachers schedule during that
    time for all Teacher In-service days, Early
    Release, etc.

TOSS Grades
  • Your methods professors will grade you on their
    assigned work and this will count as half of the
    grade for the class.
  • The other half of each methods grade will come
    from your last 5 week field experience grade

Five Week Field
  • - University supervisors evaluations of
    observations (count as 60 pts of overall full
    time field experience grade)
  • - Collaborating teachers or school
    administrators evaluation (count as 60 pts of
    overall full time field experience grade)
  • - Students self-evaluation
  • Written and implemented integrated unit (counts
    as 90 points of the overall full time field
    experience grade)
  • - graded written unit (graded by university
    supervisor)
  • - collaborating teachers assessment added to
    overall Unit Evaluation Form

Five Week Field
  • TOSS Chalk Wire E-portfolio Must have scores
    of at least L2 for all Outcomes on the
    Undergraduate Portfolio Narrative Rating Scale
    (Must have 4 pieces (Math, Science, Language
    Arts/Reading and Social Studies) of evidence per
    proficiency for 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2.1, 2.2,
    2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, 2.9, 2.10. (Must
    have 2 3 pieces for 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4)
  • Reflective journal Classroom Management a
    grade of S, S, or U will be assigned (counts as
    40 pts of overall full time field experience
    grade)

Five Week
  • Diversity field experience a grade of S or U
    will be assigned
  • Impact on Student Learning Analysis (as part of
    the integrated unit) Must have scores of at
    least L2 for all Proficiencies on Undergraduate
    Impact on Student Learning Analysis. Power Point
    example is in your TOSS handbook.

Five Week
  • Candidate Performance Instrument (CPI)- must have
    L2s L3s on all proficiencies.
  • Professionalism- Counts as 200 pts of the overall
    field experience grade. (See Section 4 for list
    of 10 professionalism characteristics that will
    be monitored).

Teacher Candidate must turn in (or complete in
Chalk and Wire)
  • Five day integrated unit (including Impact on
    Student Learning Analysis) (Details available in
    TOSS Handbook.)
  •  
  • E-Portfolio (Chalk and Wire) -including at least
    four pieces of evidence for each proficiency
    listed in outcomes 1 and 2 (1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4,
    2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, 2.9,
    2.10) and at least two pieces of evidence for
    each proficiency listed in outcome 3
    (3.1,3.2,3.3, and 3.4)
  •  
  • Reflective journal at least 3 reflections per
    week during the full time field experience
    (number of entries per week to be determined by
    supervisor (Final entry must be a philosophy of
    classroom management.)
  •  
  • CPI hard copy to be given to supervisor at exit
    interview

Supervisors need to submit or keep
  • Two (2) observation summary forms per candidate
    (keep a copy for your records)
  • Four (4) observation checklists per candidate (2
    supervisor, 2 collaborating teacher) (keep a
    copy for your records)
  • CPI (Chalk and Wire) from supervisor and
    collaborating teacher (2 per candidate)
  • Unit Plan Rubric (Chalk and Wire)
  • Evaluation Summary Sheets (keep a copy for your
    records)

Student Teacher Application
  • Please complete the student teacher application
    (http//www.kennesaw.edu/education/ofe/st.html)
    by January 30th
  • The BCOE and EECE recommend that you have one
    experience from the Primary Level (K 2) and one
    experience from the Intermediate Level (3 5)
  • If you submitted your Student Teaching
    application and realize that you requested the
    same grade as you are TOSSing then you may
    request a grade level (only) change
