2To open the APIC simulation mode, select the Sim
button
3Click Goto Airport to select the airport for
simulation mode
This is the Simulation Values box. Here you can
simulate flying different locations and
conditions.
4Enter the airport ID here
You may search by Airport ID, Airport Name, or
City Name
Once you have found the airport you want, click OK
5Or change the heading by clicking anywhere on the
heading tape
The Edit Value dialogue box will then appear to
change the values
You can quickly change the simulated altitude and
speed by simply clicking these boxes
APIC will automatically start flying out of the
selected airport
6You may also change your speed by using the f
and s keys f for faster s for slower
You can change your altitude in a similar way u
for up d for down
7NOTE You may need to deactivate sim autopilot to
change your heading, if a simulated flight plan
is active
In sim mode you can change your heading using the
left and right arrow keys
All of APICs Standard features (terrain, flight
plans, etc.) are available in sim mode
8When auto-zoom is enabled the range will be set
to the distance to the horizon plus 10 of your
current speed. The higher and faster you are
traveling the greater the zoom range will be.
The map range will also automatically zoom in as
you approach the destination of a flight plan.
You can toggle the auto and manual zoom by
clicking on the white section of the range value
indicator
To adjust the zoom use the up and down arrow
keys
or the blue arrows on either side of the range
value indicator
9Most items on the moving map display an info box
when clicked
Which will display similar info boxes
When airspace is clicked, it will turn yellow,
and this info box will appear
You can also click VORs and waypoints
Clicking on an airport will display this info box
10Open the connections tab
To deactivate Sim mode, open the Settings Menu
Click the Reset button
APIC will then revert to its standard flight
mode, using flight data from the GPS
Click OK
