Background
  • The NC Health and Wellness Trust Fund Commission
    (HWTF) invests in programs and partnerships to
    address access, prevention, education and
    research that help all North Carolinians achieve
    better health
  • State Agency funded through 25 of NCs share of
    the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement (MSA)
  • HWTF is currently scheduled to pay 350M in debt
    service on capital projects over next 25 years

Community based grant programs
  • TOBACCO USE PREVENTION AND CESSATION grantees
    empower NCs youth to make the right choices when
    it comes to tobacco use.
  • ELIMINATING HEALTH DISPARITIES grantees address a
    wide range of disparities with a focus on those
    associated with obesity.
  • FIT COMMUNITY grants support policy, programs,
    promotions, planning and physical projects to
    promote active living in NC communities.
  • MEDICATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM - grantees have
    helped over 40,000 patients access over 83
    million in prescription drugs from pharmaceutical
    companies.
  • FIT TOGETHER grantees empowered NCs youth and
    their care providers to make the right choices on
    fitness and nutrition.

HWTF Grant Application Process
  • HWTF uses a standardized Request For Proposals
    (RFP) to solicit applications.
  • RFPs are posted to the HWTF website and
    advertised through partners and press releases.
  • HWTF uses a standardized application that is
    filled out and emailed as an attachment with
    supporting documentation sent by US Mail or
    package service.
