3WHAT IS A WHO EUROPEAN HEALTHY CITY?
- A healthy city is not one which has achieved a
particular health status. - A healthy city is one that is continually
creating and improving the physical and social
environments and expanding the community
resources that enable people to mutually support
each other in performing all the functions of
life and in developing to their maximum
potential. - What is required is a commitment to health and a
process and structure to achieve it.
4WHO OVERARCHING ELEMENTS
- Â Addressing the determinants of health and the
principles of health for all - Integrating and promoting European and global
public health priorities - Â Placing health on the social and political
agendas of cities and - Â Promoting good governance and
partnership-based planning for health.
