Title: God gives spiritual gifts to His team to use

1
God gives spiritual gifts to His team to use
2
  • There are diversities of gifts, but the same
Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries,
but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of
activities, but it is the same God who works all
in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is
given to each one for the profit of all 1 Cor
    124-7 (NKJV)

3
  • There are three different groups of gifts.
  • A. Manifestation gifts
  • B. Serving gifts which are found in Romans and 1
    Peter
  • C. Equipping gifts which are found in Ephesians
    411

4
  • 1.What does manifestation of the Spirit mean?
  • An uncovering a shining forth a clear display

5
  • There are nine different ways the Holy Spirit
reveals His nature through believers to the body
    of Christ
  • Why is this important? It is one of the ways we
come to know the person and work of the Holy
    Spirit.

6
  • 2. A description of the Gifts.
  • A. Word of Wisdom When God reveals or makes
known to believers a portion of His own wisdom-
    otherwise unknown to the individual.

7
  • Now in those days, when the number of the
disciples was multiplying, there arose a
complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists,
because their widows were neglected in the daily
distribution. 2 Then the twelve summoned the
multitude of the disciples and said, "It is not
desirable that we should leave the word of God
and serve tables. 3 Therefore, brethren, seek out
from among you seven men of good reputation, full
of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may
appoint over this business 4 but we will give
ourselves continually to prayer and to the
ministry of the word." 5 And the saying pleased
the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a
man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and
Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and
Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch, Acts 61-5
    (NKJV)

8
  •  whom they set before the apostles and when they
had prayed, they laid hands on them. 7 Then the
word of God spread, and the number of the
disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a
great many of the priests were obedient to the
faith. 8 And Stephen, full of faith and power,
did great wonders and signs among the people Acts
    66-8 (NKJV)

9
  •  Then there arose some from what is called the
    Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians,
Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia),
disputing with Stephen. 10 And they were not able
to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he
    spoke. Acts 69-10 (NKJV)

10
  • 2. Word of Knowledge.
  • Here God reveals a little of His omniscience,
    otherwise unknown to us.
  • In wisdom God helps us to solve problems. In
Knowledge He helps us to know something.

11
  • 3. Discerning of Spirits.
  • A God given ability to know if something is of
    God or an evil spirit.

12
  • Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a
certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of
divination met us, who brought her masters much
profit by fortune-telling. 17 This girl followed
Paul and us, and cried out, saying, "These men
are the servants of the Most High God, who
proclaim to us the way of salvation." 18 And this
she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed,
turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in
the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And
he came out that very hour. Acts 1616-18 (NKJV)

13
  • as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these
are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the
spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received
the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba,
Father." 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with
our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if
children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint
heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him,
that we may also be glorified together. Romans
    814-17 (NKJV)

14
  • 4. A supernatural ability to believe God to do
    the extraordinary through us.
  • This is not the same as regular faith. It is
    different in form and function.

15
  • Notice the four levels of faith
  • A. Rational, logical reasoning
  • B. Saving faith this is the faith that God gives
you to come into the kingdom (Eph 28)
  • C. The fruit of faith. Galatians 522 speaks of
faithfulness, the ability to keep on keeping on.

16
  • D. The Gift of faith.
  • Acts 3 is a great example!
  • Daniel 317 and the fiery furnace is a great
example of where God gave them a supernatural
    faith to believe!

17
  • 5. The Gift of Miracles
  • A revealing of Gods power operating through the
Spirit of God flowing through the child of God.

18
  • Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant
prayer was offered to God for him by the church.
6 And when Herod was about to bring him out, that
night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains
between two soldiers and the guards before the
door were keeping the prison. 7 Now behold, an
angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone
in the prison and he struck Peter on the side
and raised him up, saying, "Arise quickly!" And
his chains fell off his hands. 8 Then the angel
said to him, "Gird yourself and tie on your
sandals" and so he did. And he said to him, "Put
on your garment and follow me." 9 So he went out
and followed him, and did not know that what was
done by the angel was real, but thought he was
seeing a vision. 10 When they were past the first
and the second guard posts, they came to the iron
gate that leads to the city, which opened to them
of its own accord and they went out and went
down one street, and immediately the angel
departed from him Acts 125-10 (NKJV)

19
  • Now when they came up out of the water, the
Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that
the eunuch saw him no more and he went on his
way rejoicing. 40 But Philip was found at Azotes.
And passing through, he preached in all the
cities till he came to Caesarea. Acts 839-40
    (NKJV)

20
  • 6. The Gift of healing.
  •  how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy
Spirit and with power, who went about doing good
and healing all who were oppressed by the devil,
for God was with Him. Acts 1038 (NKJV)

21
  • And He said to them, "Go into all the world and
preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who
believes and is baptized will be saved but he
who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And
these signs will follow those who believe In My
name they will cast out demons they will speak
with new tongues 18 they will take up serpents
and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no
means hurt them they will lay hands on the sick,
and they will recover." Mark 1615-18 (NKJV)

22
  • 7. Prophecy. One who speaks forth or on behalf
    of.
  • Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my
mouth, and the Lord said to me "Behold, I have
put My words in your mouth. Jeer 19 (NKJV)

23
  • But he who prophesies speaks edification and
exhortation and comfort to men. 4 He who speaks
in a tongue edifies himself, but he who
prophesies edifies the church. 5 I wish you all
spoke with tongues, but even more that you
prophesied for he who prophesies is greater than
he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he
interprets, that the church may receive
    edification. 1 Cur 143-5 (NKJV)

24
  • 8. The gift of tongues. This is the most common
gift in a service like today.
  • 1Cor 1230 do all speak in tongues
  • Public expressions of tongues should be
    interpreted.

25
  • 9. Interpretation of Tongues. Explains what was
    spoken.
  • If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or
at the most three, each in turn, and let one
interpret. 28 But if there is no interpreter, let
him keep silent in church, and let him speak to
himself and to God. 1 Cur 1427-28 (NKJV)

26
  • Therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those
who believe but to unbelievers but prophesying
is not for unbelievers but for those who believe.
23 Therefore if the whole church comes together
in one place, and all speak with tongues, and
there come in those who are uninformed or
unbelievers, will they not say that you are out
of your mind? 24 But if all prophesy, and an
unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he
is convinced by all, he is convicted by all.
25 And thus the secrets of his heart are
revealed and so, falling down on his face, he
will worship God and report that God is truly
among you. 1 Cur 1422-25 (NKJV)

27
  •  For with stammering lips and another tongue He
will speak to this people, 12 To whom He said,
"This is the rest with which You may cause the
weary to rest," And, "This is the refreshing"
Yet they would not hear. 13 But the word of the
Lord was to them, "Precept upon precept, precept
upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line,
Here a little, there a little," That they might
go and fall backward, and be broken And snared
and caught. 14 Therefore hear the word of the
Lord, you scornful men, Who rule this people who
are in Jerusalem, Isaiah 2811-14 (NKJV)

28
  • Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not despise
prophecies. 21 Test all things hold fast what is
    good. 1 Theses 519-21 (NKJV)

29
  • And the spirits of the prophets are subject to
the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of
confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of
the saints. 1 Cor 1432-33 (NKJV)
