2Core Value 2 As Christians, we are all gifted
and called to ministry
3Core Value 2 As Christians, we are all gifted
and called to ministry
- What are Spiritual Gifts?
- What are YOUR Spiritual Gifts?
- What ministry opportunities match your
Spiritual Gifts at MCC San Diego?
4How MCC San Diego may differ from your former
church
- - Some religions/denominations believe only
ordained clergy can do ministry - The enlightened role of clergy and lay leaders as
coaches/mentors - - Laity and clergy work in mutual ministries
5How MCC San Diego may differ from your former
church
- Ministry is done by teams
- Team leaders are trained to build caring
relationships among team members - - We are an intentionally diverse church
6The Priesthood of All Believers
- God gifted us to be a holy priesthood, to build a
spiritual house and to offer sacrifices to God
through Jesus Christ - When we come to God, we sometimes get rejected by
people - We are a chosen people, a Royal Priesthood,
people belonging to God who are called from
darkness into light
7The Priesthood of All Believers
- We are people of God who have received Mercy
- We are urged to live good lives, let people see
the glory of God through our good deeds - 1 Peter 24-12
8What are Spiritual Gifts?
- There are different kinds of gifts but the same
Spirit - To each one the manifestation of the Spirit is
given for the common good - All gifts are the work of the same Spirit given
by God as God determines
9What are Spiritual Gifts?
- One Body, Many Parts
- You are the Body of Christ and each one of you is
a part of it - We are urged to eagerly desire greater gifts
- 1 Cor 121 31
10What Does the Bible Tell Us To Do With Our
Spiritual Gifts?
So in Christ, we who are many form one BodyWe
have different gifts according to the grace given
us. If ones gift is prophesying, let each use
their gift in proportion to their faith If it is
serving, let that one serve. If it is teaching,
let her teach. If it is encouraging, let him
encourage.
11continued
If it is contributing to the needs of others,
let that one give generously. If it is
leadership, let this one govern diligently. If
it is showing mercy, let that one do it
cheerfully.
Romans 125-8
12What Else Does the Bible Say?
- God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing
(Eph 13) - We are Gods workmanship, created to do good
works, which God prepared in advance for us to do
(Eph 210)
13Are some gifts better than others?
- Through Jesus we are all built together to become
a dwelling for Gods Spirit (Eph 222) - To each of us grace has been given (Eph 47)
14How to Identify Spiritual Gifts?
- Two theories of identifying spiritual gifts
- - Spiritual Gifts are literally taken from
various scriptures in the Bible - - Spiritual Gifts are identified by studying
the needs of the church as it does ministry
