AIDS Statistics

• The AIDS epidemic continues to grow
• Some countries which saw the decline of AIDS/HIV
  victims are now seeing that the number of people
  being affected by the disease is once again
  increasing
• At the end of 2006 39.5 million people were
  living with HIV

In 2006 4.3 million new infections 2.8
million of these cases (65) occured in
sub-Saharan Africa 2.9 million people died of
AIDS related illnesses (72 of the cases were
sub-Saharan victims)

32 of all HIV/AIDS victims live in southern
Africa Roughly 7700 people get infected by the
AIDS virus daily Roughly 5800 people die of AIDS
in Africa every day

SIX weeks after CAMPAIGN RED was launched it
raised enough money to do the following

• Provide more than 40,000 people with the
  treatment for HIV/AIDS
• OR
• Provide more than 2 million peer educators with
  HIV training
• OR
• Provide a years worth of school supplies and hot
  meals for 86,000 HIV orphaned children
• OR
• Provide 1 million Rapid Tests to detect HIV and
  deliver instant test results
