- This may seem complicated at first
- Change our thinking from a calendar month to a
rolling month timeframe - We will be paid for everyday we work
- Checks will simply reflect a different
time-frame
5Current Pay Cycle
- Pay cycle time-frame reflects a calendar month
- Behind the scenes..
- Payroll run is approximately 10 days prior to the
end of the month - Hours are projected for the remaining 10 days
- Adjustments are made the following month for
overtime, leave without pay, etc.
6How Will The Pay Cycle Shift?
- Historical pay cycle 1st 31st of the month
- New Payroll cut off date will be the 21st
- New pay cycle will be 22nd of each month to 21st
of next month - Pay day will remain the last working day of the
month
EXAMPLE (actual number of working days will vary
monthly)
7Whats the Advantage to Employees?
- Employees will be paid for actual hours worked in
the current pay cycle - Reduce paperwork associated with payroll
adjustments and corrections. - Consistent with pay process for other state
employees and the private sector
8When will this take effect?
- New pay cycle will take effect July 2006
9July 2006 Pay Cycle
- Transition month
- July 1 through July 21st
- August payroll is July 22-August 21
- 15 working days
- Six working-days shorter than normal
- Annual salary policy adjustment
10How will my July 2006 pay check be
impacted?
- To minimize the financial impact of the shorter
July 2006 pay cycle, the Board of Regents (BOR)
will advance funds to employees to cover the six
day difference. - Advance will be repaid by employees ½ day per
month over 12 months. - 9 month employees will have similar adjustment
11August 2006 and beyond
- Payroll cycle for each month will be 22nd 21st
of the month - Pay day will be last working day of the month

16Benefits of This Implementation
- OT Eligible employee will be paid for actual
working days in the current pay period - FY increase will be implemented on the first day
of the pay cycle. Effective June 22nd rather than
July 1st - Employee e-Services
- Overtime/Comp time will be live and up-to-date
upon completion of transition (January 2007) - Leave balances will be accurate as of the payroll
cycle upon completion of transition (January
2007) -
