  • Global food prices have gone up 83 in the last 3
    years
  • 750,000 Canadians rely on at least one of over
    650 food banks
  • 788,000 Canadian children live in poverty (2005)
  • 38 of families headed by single parents live in
    poverty.

Who Cares What Happens? PEOPLE CARE.
  • In 2007 - 43 Million people worldwide stood up
    for action against poverty and inequality
  • People are taking up various actions against the
    corporate control of agriculture
  • The Parliament of Canada is planning to establish
    a national poverty strategy
  • Quebec has achieved a 40 reduction in its child
    poverty rate since 2000.
