Existing Club Assistance
  • Requirements
  • Net Membership Growth beyond 20 members

  • New members must pay 2003-04 year dues before
    end of the 2002-03 fiscal year
  • Club conducts a new hands-on service project

Extension Of New Lions Club
  • New Lions Club with a minimum of 20 people but 50
    is recommended
  • Charter Members to be counted towards Membership

  • One-half of the charter fees will be returned at
    the time charter application is approved and
    payment is received by LCI.

Extension Of New Lions Club
  • The 2nd half of charter fee refunded when
  • the second years dues are paid to LCI before the
    clubs charter anniversary
  • the club has a net increase in members and has
    completed a service project.

Awards For Denver Convention Five Award Levels
In 5 Categories
1. Five Categories a. Extension Award
Recipients b. Sponsoring Clubs c.

Extension Chairmen e. Impact Team Leaders 2.
Each time a new club is started, the
person/club/multiple district/district governor
receives credit toward the award.
3. Club applications must be received by 15 April
2003 Award recipients to be decided 1 May 2003

Award Levels
  • 5th Place - Accommodation for one at the
    delegation hotel in Denver
  • 4th Place - Accommodation at a delegation hotel
    for two people, plus convention registration
    fees
  • 3rd Place - Coach economy airfare paid for one
    from Lions home to Denver back
  • 2nd Place - Coach economy airfare paid for two
    from Lions home to Denver back, and convention
    registration fees
  • 1st Place (Grand Prize) - Coach economy airfare
    paid for 2, delegation hotel room, plus 2
    registration fees

Sponsoring Club Program
  • District with minimum of 2 new Lions Clubs
    sponsored will qualify.
  • Sponsoring club with greatest number of new clubs
    earns 50 off LCI catalogue items. Club may
    receive benefit not to exceed US500 in discounts
    in fiscal year following contest period, i.e.
    club spends US500 to receive US1,000 worth of
    merchandise.
  • In event of a tie, District will recommend the
    recipient.

District Governors Awards
  • 30 or more New Lions Clubs Ambassador of
    Goodwill Award (Maximum of 5 awards given)
  • 10 New Lions Clubs Presidential Medal
  • 6 New Lions Clubs Presidential Leadership Medal
  • 4 New Lions Clubs Presidential Certificate of
    Appreciation
  • For every 2 New Lions Clubs Presidential
    Diamond Pin with a progressive diamond (up to 5
    diamonds)

Special Presidential Diamond Pin Award
For every 2 new Lions Clubs started within the
contest period, the organiser of the new Clubs
and the district governor will receive a special
pin. 2 New Clubs - Pin/1 diamond 4 New Clubs
- Pin/2 diamonds 6 New Clubs - Pin/3 diamonds
8 New Clubs - Pin/4 diamonds 10 New Clubs -
Pin/5 diamonds

Fast Start Contest
DGEs who either bring copies of necessary paper
work with them to Osaka for two new Lions Clubs
chartered in May of June 2002 or completed
charter application before the end of the first
quarter of their year, will receive the following
Bonus
  • A special Presidential Pin with a diamond
  • Will be counted towards the number of new clubs
    needed to earn the Presidential medal and Denver
    Convention Awards

Tool Boxes
Three Basic Tool Boxes
1. Club Tool Box (50-50 cost sharing basis
available beginning July 2002)
2. District Tool Box (DG will receive district
club tool boxes in July 2002)
3. Multiple District Tool Box (Council Chairman
will receive the club,district and multiple
district tool boxes in July 2002)
THE LION Magazine in July will carry the
guidelines of the New Program and order form for
ordering Club Tool Boxes.

District Guiding Lion Certification Program
  • Each District must have a certified Guiding Lion
    Team of 2 or more Lions serving for 2 or more
    years
  • DG must conduct training classes for the Guiding
    Lion Certification Program
  • Two Guiding Lions are trained to serve for a
    period of two years with each new chartered Lions
    club.

District Guiding Lion Certification Program
  • Guiding Lions can come from the sponsoring Lions
    clubs or from the district level
  • Once a Guiding Lion has completed the course and
    has been issued a Guiding Lion certificate, they
    can receive the Presidential Certified Guiding
    Lions Medal after serving two years as a Guiding
    Lion and after submitting their required reports
    to LCI.
  • Certification Program information is available by
    contacting LCI

District Orientation Team
  • Each DG must form a District Orientation Team of
    at least two people to conduct quarterly
    orientation meetings with the new members of each
    charter club.
  • These Lions should work closely with the Guiding
    Lions as well as the extension chairman
  • The members of the district orientation team can
    be past district governors or other knowledgeable
    and respected Lions.

Public Relations Matching Grant Program
  • DGs can submit a request to have their top
    project publicised in their major newspaper with
    the greatest circulation highlighting their major
    district project
  • Submit proposal to LCI Public Relations Division,
    with a request for half the cost of the newspaper
    ad,
  • Request not to exceed a total of US1,000.
  • Send early in the year for most benefit

  • LCI Emblem Road Signs
  • Replace faded, bent, missing Lions emblems or
    road signs.
  • Participating clubs may be eligible to purchase,
    at cost plus postage, a new emblem or sign for
    display in their town.
  • Maximum of one sign per club. A total of
    150,000 in road signs is available under this
    program. Therefore, the purchase of signs is on
    a first come/first served basis.
