Class Procedures
  • When entering the class, students need to write
down their daily objective question from the
    screen.
  • I will provide the students with a Daily
    Objective Notebook .
  • Students are to have the daily objective
question answered by the next class meeting.

objective notebooks to see that they have
    answered all the questions.

Class Organization
  •
  • My class is divided into historical time period
units and weekly lessons. These units will
correspond to chapters out of the textbook. At
the start of each week, students will be given a
new learning objective or topic for that week.
  • Students will be provided with or will create
    notes from the chapter readings.

Homework/ Practice Assignments
  • Philosophy- The purpose of homework is to
practice and reinforce objectives and skills
taught in class. These activities are meant to
prepare students for assessments, not to be the
    assessment.
  • Time is given in class to start most assignments.
Most assignments are small, and it is not
unusual for students to finish in class with the
exception of the daily objective question.
  •

11
Assessments
  • Philosophy- I believe in using small, frequent
    assessments throughout the year. These
assessments can be either formal or informal.
  • Types Assessments weekly quizzes, unit tests,
    simulations, and small in-class projects.
  • As we go further into the year, the weekly
quizzes and unit tests will contain information
not only from the current week or unit, but also
    information from past assessments.
  • Students will take a cumulative pre-test and
    final exam for this course.
  • Students are to use their daily objective
questions and notes as a guide to prepare for all
    assessments.
  •

12
Late Work Policy
  • Projects Only will be marked down one letter
grade for each day they are late.
  •
  • Practice Assignments/ Homework students are
encouraged to make up any practice assignments
they missed prior to being assessed (test, quiz,
    project, and simulations, etc.).
  • Students are responsible to check their agendas,
the assignment calendar, or Mr. Furmans website
to see what they missed if they are absent.
  •

13
Classroom Behavior/ Discipline
  • Philosophy- Students will be held 100
accountable for their behavior. My first
priority is to maintain and protect every
    students legal right to learn.
  • Students may not disrupt the learning process, or
    interrupt the teacher from teaching.
  • Students who disrupt the learning process will be
sent to ISI (school timeout room).
  •

14

questions and be sure he/she is keeping up with
    the work.
