The Letter of James

• Probably written in the early to middle sixties
  after Pauls teaching on faith and works.
• The writer is not identified as an Apostle.
• Leader of the Jewish community in Jerusalem.

• Probably a relative of Jesus who is identified as
  a Brother.
• (see Mk 331-35)
• Addressed to the twelve tribes (People of Israel
  in the dispersion (Diaspora non-Palestinian
  Jews)).
• It is also meant for Jewish Christian Churches
  everywhere.
• Its genre is one of parenesis or exhortation with
  ethical conduct.
