EVERYMANS TALMUD Perhaps the most striking
example that could be selected of the manner in
which the Rabbis developed a Biblical ordinance
is the Sabbath. Whereas Scripture merely lays
down the general law that no manner of work is to
be performed on that day, a whole Talmudic
tractate is devoted to the study of what does or
does not constitute a desecration of the Sabbath.
The prohibited acts were classified under 39
headings

Three Steps to a HEALTHY SABBATH HABIT
16
Three Steps to aHEALTHY SABBATH HABIT
  • Realize we are not GodTherefore the world does
not revolve around nor does it depend on us

17
Isaiah 4028-31 Have you never heard or
understood? Don't you know that the LORD is the
everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth? He
never grows faint or weary. No one can measure
the depths of his understanding. He gives power
to those who are tired and worn out he offers
strength to the weak. Even youths will become
exhausted, and young men will give up. But those
who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They
will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run
and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
18
Philippians 46-7 Don't worry about anything
instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you
need, and thank Him for all he has done. If you
do this, you will experience God's peace, which
is far more wonderful than the human mind can
understand. His peace will guard your hearts and
minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

20
Three Steps to aHEALTHY SABBATH HABIT
  • Realize we are not GodTherefore the world does
not revolve around nor does it depend on us
  • Work six days
  • We live in an instant gratification society and
it has robbed us of the age old, God-honoring,
    Biblical command to work

21
Galatians 522-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Against such things there is no law.
22
1 Thessalonians 13 As we talk to our God and
Father about you, we think of your faithful work,
your loving deeds, and your continual
anticipation of the return of our Lord Jesus
Christ.

QUOTE FROM EARL ROBERTS
  • Earl never spent a minute regretting what he
might have missed Enjoy today. Theres no
guarantee there'll be any tomorrow. Ive known
many a man who has slaved at his job his whole
life, never taking time to enjoy himself along
the way, so that he can have a great retirement.
Then he retires and his wife dies, or he has a
stroke. Then what has he got? Nuthin. Youve
got to enjoy life for today. Then you can take
life as it comes with no regrets.

25
FOUR CAUTIONS
26
FOUR CAUTIONS
  • Just because you stopped, doesnt mean everyone
else has to or even should. There is not single
    Sabbath Day for Christians.

27
FOUR CAUTIONS
  • Adding up hours in the week to total a days rest
is passive legalism at its best.

28
FOUR CAUTIONS
  • What is work for you may be play for someone
else. It may be your joy and passion, but it is
    none-the-less work.

29
FOUR CAUTIONS
  • If you love rules, be careful that you dont make
it your goal to be the Sabbath inspector of the
    Christian world.
