• Would you believe that cardinals could
  actually be both pink and yellow?

• Many are also red and brown. They are bright,
  beautiful birds. There is so much to learn about
  cardinals. In our power point presentation you
  will discover more about what cardinals look
  like, their habitat, what cardinals like to eat,
  how they care for their babies, and also some
  amazing facts about cardinals.

What they eat

• Let me tell you about what cardinals eat. As
  adults, cardinals mainly eat seeds, fruits and
  nuts. During the summer, cardinals also eat
  insects and fruits. Cardinal chicks need to be
  often fed. In winter, cardinals often visit bird
  feeders .

Where they live

• Lets take a look at where cardinals live. Long
  ago, cardinals lived only in the southeastern
  part of the United States and in Mexico.
  Scientists think that warmer weather has allowed
  cardinals to expand their range.They live
  everywhere, except in the far northern part of
  the world.

• The cardinals babies are so cute.Cardinal eggs
  hatch in 12 or 13 days. When a male chick molts
  for the first time, it grows bright red feathers
  like its father.

How they look

• Let me explain what northern cardinals look like.
  A male cardinal is a songbird with bright red
  feathers.A female cardinal is mostly dull brown.
  But she does have a red crest, tail, and wings.
  Both female and male cardinals have black
  masks near their redorange beaks.

Amazing facts

• It is amazing to think about cardinals.Did you
  know, the female northern cardinal sings,often
  from the nest.The song may give the male
  information about when to bring food to the
  nest.

• A mated pair shares song phrases,but the
  female may sing a longer and slightly more
  complex song than the male.The male cardinal
  fiercely defends its breeding territory from
  other males.
