Patient Advocacy
- The OAC was created to fill the patient advocacy
gap. - By building a nationwide network, the OAC
empowers patients to be advocates for change. - Initial efforts of the OAC will focus on access
to care issues. The OAC believes those who need
access to and insurance coverage for obesity
management services, including bariatric surgery
should not be denied.

- The OAC engages in a variety of educational and
supportive programs designed for those affected
by obesity. - The programs offered help patients learn more
about their disease and encourages them to become
active participants in planning and managing
their treatment. - In addition, our advocacy programs encourage and
train patients to become effective advocates.
