2SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK
- Mission To educate and involve individuals to
end hunger and alleviate malnutrition in our
communities. Second Harvest provides food to
approximately 43,000 individuals a month through
a network of 160 agencies and programs throughout
Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties and the Pajaro
Valley - Works on food access and food stamp legislation
to assist low income communities
3Food Bank for Monterey County
- Mission To lead community efforts in the
awareness and elimination of hunger in Monterey
County. Distribution of food throughout the
County by several means - (1) Agency Clearinghouse, a network of
approximately 80 non-profit food assistance
agencies (2) direct giving programs such as
Emergency Food Assistance, Food for Children, and
the Family Market - 6 tons of produce distributed last year

- Mission To improve the lives of the people of
Santa Cruz County by convening the community to
identify and seek solutions to their needs and by
efficiently raising funds for the human care
programs we support.
5United Way/Go for Health!
- Go for Health is a five year plan that provides a
community blueprint for Santa Cruz County policy
makers, funding agencies, schools, parents,
community based organizations, health care, food
industry, businesses and the media to take action
to improve childrens health though health
eating, regular physical activity and changing

10California Project LEAN
- California Project LEAN is a joint program of the
California Department of Health Services and the
Public Health Institute focusing on youth
empowerment, policy and environmental change
strategies, and community-based solutions. CPLs
mission is to increase healthy eating and
physical activity to reduce the prevalence of
obesity and chronic diseases such as heart
disease, cancer, stroke, osteoporosis, and
diabetes.

Central Coast
- Mission To Promote and advocate for developments
that foster healthy lifestyle behaviors, with an
emphasis on nutrition and physical activity, to
prevent the rising trend of obesity and related
chronic disease in Monterey, San Benito and Santa
Cruz Counties, especially for low-income
populations.
12STEPS to a Healthier Salinas
- The Steps to a Healthier Salinas program aims to
help Salinass residents live longer, better, and
healthier lives by reducing the burden of
diabetes, overweight, obesity, and asthma and
addressing three related risk factors physical
inactivity, poor nutrition, and tobacco use. -

- Mission To inspire and empower the youth of
Monterey County to realize their full potential
to become responsible, healthy, productive and

in Monterey County for funding services to meet
the diverse needs of seniors. The AAA is a part
of the Monterey County Department of Social

- Mission La Manzana Community Resources connects
people and services. Our activities respect all
cultures and support families in creating a

mostly low-income residents of Watsonville and
Pajaro Valley - Summer Lunch. Nutrition 5 A Day. Nutrition
Counseling. Lactation Center.
19Life Lab Science Program
- Life Lab Science Program is a nonprofit
organization and has been working in the field of
science and environmental education for over
twenty years. The organization helps schools
develop gardens where children can create "living
laboratories" for the study of the natural world.

(ALBA)
- Mission The mission of the Agriculture and
Land-Based Training Association is to advance

- The Community Alliance with Family Farmers is

the land, sustains local economies and promotes
social justice. - CAFFs Farm-to-School program brings fresh,
locally-grown, and unprocessed fruits and
vegetables into school cafeterias across

JUST RUN Monterey County is a FREE program funded
by the Big Sur International Marathon and
private donations. The goal is to promote
