Todays Situation
  • 70 of SOV commuters are students
  • WTA student ridership increased 114 from 92-98
  • Ridership on Campus Express increased 130
    between Fall 97-98
  • WWU commuters parking shifted toward downtown.
  • Insufficient support of Biking as a commute
    option.

  • A viable cost effective solution
  • Option to bill students as mandatory, default,
    optional
  • Cost to students is higher if it is optional
  • If mandatory, then must bill employees at same
    or higher rate as students
  • Amount Students are willing to pay depends of
    Services provided.

Student Attitudes Regarding Bus Pass
Students strongly disagree with the mandatory fee
Students were most interested in bus service that
included expanded services and indicated a
willingness to pay 20-34 dollars for this service
Busses going later was a concern for the majority
of students surveyed.

  • Determine a Viable Fee Option for D
  • Implement an Awareness Raising Campaign about
    the Bus Pass
  • Put the Program to Student Vote
  • Create and Execute a Bus Pass Program.
