3Maryland CTE Today
- Over 50 of high school students enrolled in CTE
- 25 of the class of 2005 completed a CTE program
of study - 47 of the CTE completers also completed the
coursework for meeting the University System of
Maryland in 1993, it was only 14 - 55,546 postsecondary students enrolled in CTE
throughout 15 of Marylands 16 community colleges - 4,293 postsecondary students received a degree or
certificate
4Development of Marylands Career Clusters
- Educators and Employers partnered to develop ten
Career Clusters - Based upon Marylands unique
- employment needs
- Career Pathways and Pathway Programs were
identified within each Career Cluster - Over 350 employers were involved in the
validation and design process - Focused on the breath, depth, and value added in
CTE programs - Moved from Procedural Knowledge to focus on
Problem Solving and Critical Thinking
