The Attack

• The attack was a complete surprise. The attacking
  planes came in two waves the first hit its
  target at 753 AM, the second at 855. By 955 it
  was all over. By 100 PM the carriers that
  launched the planes from 274 miles off the coast
  of Oahu were heading back to Japan.
• Behind them they left chaos and a crippled the
  Pacific Fleet.

Why Did All This Happen

• Japan attacked the United States because they
  thought if they crippled our Pacific Fleet they
  could take over the south pacific with out us
  being able to do anything.
• Also the United States cut Japan off from oil and
  steel, therefore the Japanese couldnt support
  their huge military. So they attacked Pearl
  Harbor.

The Day After

• December 8, 1941 FDR gave a speech to the country
  that will live forever. He also declared war on
  Japan which brought us into WW2.
• Yesterday, December 7,1941 a date that which
  will live in infamy, the United States of
  America was suddenly and deliberately attacked
  by naval and air forces of the empire of
  Japan...
