- FSAs can be offered alongside an HSA only if the
FSA provides limited scope benefits. - Limited-scope FSA only reimburses expenses not
reimbursed under HSA such as dental and vision.
Eligible medical expenses will be reimbursed by
the FSA only after the HDHP deductible HSA been
satisfied. - If only the employee is enrolled in a HDHP, FSA
funds (except limited scope dental/vision) are
not available for any family member until
employee HSA satisfied the deductible. - EXAMPLE Employee enrolls in HDHP but spouse
and children are enrolled in spouses Kaiser
Plan. Medical expenses for dependents will not
be reimbursed by FSA until employee satisfies
deductible. - Dependent Care FSA is not affected and will
continue to be offered. - If you do not elect an HSA you may participate in
the full scope FSA. Full scope FSA includes
reimbursement for all medical expenses as defined
by IRS regulations.
