3
What is NGP?
NGP is an acronym for Network Gateway Platform, a
design on which Muratec has adopted its next
generation of segment 1 and fax products. This
design has led to the development of MFP devices
with a built-in affinity for the network, meaning
products seamlessly integrate into and maximize
the full potential of a corporate network
environment.
4
Why segment 1 fax-centric devices?
Muratec believes that as customers implement
document archiving programs the on-ramping of
hardcopy documents into a searchable, indexed
filing structure will take place on small
workgroup devices rather than the traditional
copy room behemoths. A convenient, intuitive
desktop solution allows small workgroups /
executives instant on-ramping capabilities
whenever they need to digitize a document for
either archiving or distribution purposes, making
for an efficient and cost-effective solution.
5
What functions can I perform on NGP-enabled
devices?
  • NGP-enabled devices are capable of
  • Color scan to network (direct SMB scanning)
  • Color scan to FTP (direct or shortcut)
  • Color scan to e-mail (direct or shortcut)
  • Internet faxing (T.37 compliant, not T.38)
  • Desktop faxing
  • Traditional walk-up faxing (33.6 Kbps high-speed
    modem)
  • Without adding any additional hardware or
    software.

6
Color scan to network
  • Scan both high-resolution color and monochrome
hardcopy documents directly into network folders.
  • Surf your network file structure from the
    intuitive touchscreen, guiding documents directly
into the folder of their choice (similar to
saving a document using Windows Explorer).
  • Register up to 20 folder shortcut locations
    allowing for one-touch job initiation.
  • The QWERTY keypad allows you to tag each scanned
document with a custom file name, allowing for
    greater file retrieval capabilities.
  • Documents may be saved in TIFF, PDF or JPEG
    format.

7
Color scan to FTP
  • Post both high-resolution color and monochrome
hardcopy documents directly onto FTP sites
  • Register up to 20 FTP shortcut locations allowing
    for one-touch job initiation
  • The QWERTY keypad allows you to tag each scanned
document with a customized file name, allowing
    for greater file retrieval capabilities.
  • Documents may be posted in TIFF, PDF or JPEG
    format.

8
Color scan to e-mail
  • Send both color and monochrome hardcopy documents
to e-mail recipients as either TIFF, PDF or
    JPEGs.
  • Register e-mail addresses in the internal address
book for quick recall or enter them manually
using the intuitive QWERTY keypad (which mirrors
a PC keyboard and even includes a .com
    button!).
  • Simultaneously send documents via fax and email,
depending on the recipients preferred method.
  • Toggle between To/Cc/Bcc, just as you would when
    sending via Outlook.

9
Color scan to e-mail
  • Network administrators can limit file scanning
size to reduce network congestion. Transmission
may also be broken up into separate transmissions
    to insure quick delivery.
  • Attach network/desktop files to your
transmission, no matter the file format.
  • You can easily attach a quick subject line and
text message to your outgoing e-mail (preventing
the recipient from thinking the message is SPAM).

10
Internet faxing
  • T.37 internet fax connection offers fast and
secure delivery of hardcopy documents to remote
internet fax terminals (T.37 only, not compliant
    with T.38).
  • Utilizing the existing mail server does not
require the purchase/installation of a VPN
(virtual private network). Uses basic SMTP e-mail
    delivery and POP3 email reception.
  • Files are transferred as TIFF images.
  • QWERTY keypad makes sending an I-Fax as seamless
    as a fax transmission.

11
Desktop faxing
  • Quickly send documents from PC applications to
remote fax terminals, bypassing the need to print
    documents prior to fax transmission.
  • Insert custom coversheets and short text
    messages.
  • Received faxes may be routed to e-mail addresses,
network folders or FTP sites, reducing paper
consumption and increasing delivery accuracy to
    intended parties.
  • Improved PC fax interface allows you to view sent
documents and quickly delete them from memory.
  • Intuitive confirmation screen allows you to view
the sent document, transmission time and result.

12
Walk-up faxing
  • 33.6 Kbps modem w/JBIG compression and optional
    2nd line.
  • 300 location address book (each location can
include both an e-mail address and fax number).
  • Quickly import address book data from Microsoft
Outlook (vCard) into the internal address book.
  • Corporate directory searching capabilities (LDAP
    compliant).
  • Select the appropriate server prior to searching
(up to 5 servers may be registered).
  • Contacts located during a directory search may be
imported into the internal address book for
    instant recall.

13
Simplistic operation
NGP-enabled products are the first segment 1 and
fax-centric products to utilize a touchscreen,
which allows for intuitive user operation.
