teachers and students the opportunity to provide
information in a variety of ways to better meet
the diverse learning styles. - Many educators have found that the use of
technology in the classroom has changed the

7Educational Value and use For Teachers and
Students
- PowerPoint allows students to use their
technology-based entertainment for educational
experiences. Microsoft PowerPoint is available
as an Icon on my Blackberry Tour. I am able to
open and view PowerPoints that are sent in a
location that a wireless internet may not be
reached in.
- For example, PowerPoint allows lectures or other
course content to be made available to students
if they miss class. Beyond missed lectures,
podcasting can provide access to experts through
interviews. - PowerPoint is not limited to content delivered to
the student, however students can create their
own PowerPointsas a record of activities, a way
to collect notes, or a reflection on what they
have learned. - PowerPoint allows education to become more
portable than ever before. PowerPoint cannot
replace the classroom, but it provides educators
one more way to meet todays students where they
liveon the Internet and sharing their
information on the internet.
8Educational Value of PowerPoint
- Allows u to work at your own paces and develop
the presentation any way that u want. For
example, I like to label and lay out my slides
and organize it before I put my information in.
some people can complete slides as they go on.
- Provides its own tutorial.
- Easy to input videos, pictures.
- You can save your presentation as an HTML and
share it. - Ability to access and review information at own
desire and helps to embed lessons in memory. - Has Slides not pages, students are not
overwhelmed by creating a 10 page factual paper.
9Student Use
- PowerPoint can be used for students to create
presentations based on information they have
learned. It is a flexible program that encourages
student participation and facilitates success.
Other examples - Diagrams
- Charts
- Pictures
- Informative lectures
10- Users must have current Microsoft downloaded,
occasionally programs may not be compatible with
the newest software. - Students may take creativeness to a different
level and use fonts that are hard to read, colors
that make the writing hard to see, and colors
that do not blend. Too much creativeness can
actually be bad! - Some backgrounds may be distracting!

13PRINTING
An aspect of PowerPoint that I find very useful
is having the ability to print the slides in
Handout format. Print gives the option of
printing 1 to 9 slides per page which also helps
to be economically friendly! Being able to print
your PowerPoint on minimal sheets of paper makes
it easy for classmates to store. It is nice to
be able to keep the documents we are currently
learning about because you never know when it may
come in handy during your teaching experience.
14In Conclusion
- When given this assignment, I began looking up
different aspects of technology that I was
familiar with and came up with a few ideas that I
wanted to use. However, when it came down to it,
from elementary education to secondary to
undergraduate to this Masters program, the only
aspect of Educational Technology that I had
repeatedly used and been exposed to is the use of
PowerPoint. I have been asked to create many
different PowerPoint presentations displaying
that knowledge that I have acquired. It is the
easiest and most organized way to create a
presentation.
