What you will learn
  • In this presentation you will learn about 3 of
    the battles before The Declaration of
    Independence. They are the battles at Lexington,
    Concord, Bunker Hill. You will learn about how
    the battles started and also about the shot
    heard around the world. You will find out who
    won them and you will also learn about the
    ambushes that they made on each other.

British March On Concord
  • When King Henry III discovered that the colonists
    where keeping a storage of weapons and ammunition
    he ordered the British troops to go and destroy
    them.

Paul Revere
  • Dr. Joseph Warren learned of the British
    plans and sent Paul Revere to alert them. Since
    he could not get out of Boston he made
    arrangements to warn them using lanterns in a old
    church steeple.

The Battle of Lexington
  • When the British came to Lexington they found a
    militia of rebels waiting. Major Pitcarin of the
    British told the British soldiers to surround the
    militia and disarm them at this the militia was
    ordered to fire.

The Shot Heard Around the World
  • No one really knows who fired first but after
    that the British officers could not get control
    and the British fired back. After at least eight
    of the colonist were killed they retreated to the
    woods.

Concord
  • The next battle occurred at concord. When the
    retreating column ran into the army they were
    outflanked, outgunned, they were also very scared
    because the Americas never formed a firing line.
    The inexperienced British had little to shoot
    from.They hid behind trees and walls.The retreat
    to Boston was a success. The British suffered
    badly.

The Battle For Bunker Hill
  • On June 17, 1775 the Battle of Bunker Hill took
    place. As the numbers of volunteering patriots
    grew they decided that they wanted to free more
    of America but mostly Boston.

Bunker Hill
  • The battle of Bunker Hill actually took place on
    Breeds Hill. There famous order was you cannot
    shoot until you saw the whites of their eyes.
    This battle lasted three hours.It was one of the
    deadliest of the revolutionary war.

Summary
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill took place on June 17,
    1775. They fought because they wanted to free
    more of America.The battle lasted 3 hours and it
    took place on Breeds Hill. King Henry III
    discovered that the colonists were keeping a
    storage of ammunition, he sent troops to destroy
    them. This event started the Battle of Lexington
    and Concord. The British suffered very badly in
    the Battle of Concord. Hope you learned a
